Riftbound cards are standard size, so Riftbound sleeves are the same size as sleeves for Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon. That's the short answer. The rest of this guide covers how many sleeves a full Riftbound setup needs, how to sleeve runes and battlefields, and how to store everything from bulk Commons to overnumbered chase cards.
What size are Riftbound cards?
Riftbound cards are standard TCG size, roughly 63 × 88 mm. Any sleeve sold as standard size fits. Don't buy "Japanese size" or "small" sleeves: those are made for smaller cards like Yu-Gi-Oh! and won't fit. Our standard sleeves fit Riftbound cards.
How many Riftbound sleeves do you need?
A full Constructed setup:
| Part | Cards | Sleeve? |
|---|---|---|
| Main deck | 40 | Yes, always |
| Rune deck | 12 | Recommended |
| Sideboard | Up to 8 | Yes, matching the main deck |
| Legend | 1 | Optional; it's face-up all game |
| Battlefields | 3 | Optional; many players use a different colour |
A pack of 100 sleeves covers your main deck and sideboard, with spares for when sleeves wear out. If you also sleeve runes, battlefields and your Legend, plan on about 64 sleeves.
Should you sleeve your rune deck?
Yes, for two reasons. Runes are handled every turn, as you channel, exhaust and recycle them, so they wear quickly. And keeping the rune deck in a different sleeve colour from your main deck makes it easy to keep the two apart, since they must never be shuffled together.
Sleeving for tournaments
At competitive events, sleeves need to be opaque, consistent and in good condition. Worn or marked sleeves can lead to penalties. Before a tournament:
- Use a fresh set of sleeves for the main deck and sideboard.
- Use the same sleeves across the main deck and sideboard so sideboarding doesn't reveal anything.
- Check for wear at the corners and edges. Replace any damaged sleeves.

Double sleeving
Many players use a perfect-fit inner sleeve and a standard outer sleeve. The inner sleeve seals out dust and moisture, and the outer sleeve takes the shuffling wear. It's worth it for any deck that includes alternate art or foil cards.
Storing your Riftbound collection
| What | Best storage |
|---|---|
| Bulk Commons and Uncommons | Card storage boxes, sorted by set and domain |
| Playables you swap between decks | A binder with side-loading pages |
| Foils and alternate arts | Sleeve first, then a binder or toploader |
| Overnumbered and Signature cards | Perfect-fit sleeve plus a toploader or semi-rigid holder, or graded |
| Graded slabs | A slab box, or display cases such as GradedGuard cases |
Sorting your collection by domain makes deck building much faster, since every deck is built from two domains.
Protecting foil and Showcase cards
Foil cards can curl in humid conditions, and cold-foil overnumbered cards scratch easily. Keep them sleeved, store them flat or upright in a stable, dry room, and avoid storing them near heaters, windows or exterior walls. Our overnumbered and Signature guide has more on looking after chase cards, and our grading guide covers slabs.
Playmats and deck boxes
A playmat isn't required, but it protects cards from table surfaces and helps you keep runes, base, battlefields and trash in clear zones. Browse our playmats. A deck box that fits a sleeved 40-card deck plus runes, battlefields and a sideboard is essential for carrying to events. Look for one with room for about 70 double-sleeved cards.
Frequently asked questions
What size sleeves fit Riftbound cards?
Standard-size sleeves, the same as for Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon. Riftbound cards are about 63 × 88 mm.
Do Yu-Gi-Oh! sleeves fit Riftbound cards?
No. Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are smaller and use Japanese-size sleeves, which are too small for Riftbound.
How many sleeves do I need for a Riftbound deck?
40 for the main deck and up to 8 for the sideboard. About 64 if you also sleeve your runes, battlefields and Legend.
Should runes be sleeved differently from the main deck?
Many players use a different sleeve colour for the rune deck to keep it clearly separate from the main deck.
How should I store valuable Riftbound cards?
In a perfect-fit sleeve plus a toploader or semi-rigid holder, in a dry room away from heat. For the most valuable cards, consider grading.
